  • References

This lesson provides a comprehensive, systematic approach to evaluating plantar hindfoot pain using ultrasound. It reviews the spectrum of pathology involving the plantar fascia, plantar fat pad, lateral cord of the plantar fascia, compression of the inferior calcaneal nerve (Baxter’s neuropathy), as well as other causes of plantar hindfoot pain, including lateral plantar vein thrombosis, foreign bodies, and piezopapules. Emphasis is placed on correlating sonographic findings with the clinical presentation to accurately identify the primary pain generator and guide targeted treatment.
