Plantar Hindfoot Anatomy and Live Scan Anatomy and Live Scan

  • Overview
  • References

This lesson reviews the relevant anatomy and sonoanatomy of the plantar hindfoot, followed by a systematic live scan demonstration. The anatomy review and live scan follow the plantar hindfoot scanning protocol and include evaluation of the proximal central cord, plantar fat pad, lateral cord, and the abductor digiti minimi muscle to assess for signs of denervation suggestive of inferior calcaneal nerve (Baxter’s nerve) compression. The medial tarsal tunnel is also examined, with particular attention to the inferior calcaneal nerve.
