15 year-old with a snapping internal oblique muscle

I saw an interesting case last week and wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

A 15 year-old female developed the non-traumatic onset of a left-sided abdominal wall snapping sensation with activities that result in tightening her abdominal musculature. These activities would include sit-ups, core strengthening, and sometimes snowboarding. More recently, the snapping occurs with laughing or having a bowel movement, and has become more painful.

The extended field of view image is of her anterior abdominal wall outlining the field of view of the cine clip. The cine clip is of her performing a valsalva maneuver in the sitting position and shows the medial fibers of the internal oblique muscle rotating around the cartilaginous tip of the 12th rib.

  1. Those images are so great! I have seen hundreds of cases of snapping rib syndrome, but never anything that looks quite like this.
